Our lodge was chartered on November 13th,
1989 with only 22 members from 1 agency. Through the years, we've grown
to nearly 900 members from numerous departments and agencies, making
us the 3rd largest lodge in the state.
Lodge 38 is proud to have law enforcement professionals

Lodge 38 has nearly 900 members from many agencies
and departments. This diversity, along with our frequent meetings and
numerous events, has earned us a distinction of being one of the most
active and well-run lodges in the state.
Members in good standing who have joined prior to
age 63 and whose names are on file with the State Lodge are eligible
to receive a $10,000 benefit for membership until the age of 70. The
benefit is reduced to $5,000 after age 70. Coverage is on or off the
job.
Active Member's beneficiary is eligible to receive
up to a $500 benefit until the member reaches age 63. The benefit is
$250 after age 63.

Scholarships are awarded yearly from the State
Lodge to qualified applicant dependants of members.
Priority status is offered at Deborah Heart & Lung,
Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Nassau University Medical Center.
Members who have a newborn child or adopt a child under the age of 18
may submit an application to receive a $50 U.S. Savings Bond.
Members are able to order exclusive New York State
FOP license plates designed to show your fellow officers and members
that you are a proud member of the FOP. These plates are DMV issued
and sanctioned by the DMV and the FOP.

The program is constantly expanding.

Membership is open to any regularly appointed, full-time
(or retired) law enforcement officer of the United States, New York
State, cities, towns, villages and political subdivisions therein, permanently
employed or temporarily detailed within the boundaries of the State
of New York.
A law enforcement officer is a police
officer (as defined in N.Y.S. Criminal Procedure Law Art.1.20 Sect.
34), a peace officer (as defined in N.Y.S. Criminal Procedure
Law Art. 2.10) or a federal officer (as defined in N.Y.S. Criminal
Procedure Law Art. 2.15)

If you secure FOP license plates, such plates must
be returned to the Department of Motor Vehicles if you resign or are
removed from membership in this organization. The Fraternal Order of
Police regulates the use of the copyrighted FOP name and emblem and
prohibits the use of it in any way without the express written permission
of the New York State Fraternal Order of Police.

I hereby declare my desire to apply for membership in the Fraternal
Order of Police. I agree with the aims and objectives of the FOP as
outlined in the local, State and National Constitution & Bylaws, and
I shall conform to all said rules. I pledge to respect all laws of the
United States, the State of New York, and to support law enforcement
in every way I can.
I also attest that I am qualified to apply
for membership, and that the information supplied by me on the application
is both accurate and truthful in applying for membership, and that any
misrepresentation or deception on my part will be grounds for the denial
of my application or expulsion from the Order.

A photocopy of your law enforcement ID card (active
or retired) or a letter from employer on official letterhead verifying
your present law enforcement status must be provided in order for your
application to be processed. The photocopy or letter must be included
with your application.
